Silvestro
Mascali was born in Rome (Italy) in 1980, his father, who played trumpet, launched
him in the music world since he was very young.He has studied as musician since
1986.
In 1990 he decided to focus his strength on the percussions, his first teacher was Antonio Liano who nowadays is the Head percussionist of the "Banda della Polizia".
In 1998, working at several different music projects, he started to take part at the flowering scenario of the italian capital city.
He established with Mauro Alessandri, Daniele Borsato and Alessandro Virgilii a band called "Le 5 Anatre" (The 5 Ducks). The band mostly played covers of one of the finest italian song-writer, Francesco Guccini, changing his classic melodies into Jazz and Funk interpretations.
In 2001 he decided to improve his technical skills studying with the great jazz-drummer Simone Prattico, he especially focused his attention on jazz and latin-american rhythms.
Before he left Italy heding for Ireland he also attended the school of the famous drummer Paul Brannigan, who has lived in Rome for two years running stage for young percussionists.
In february 2004 he arrived in Dublin looking for celtic sonorities.
In Whelan's, the famous Dublin venue in Wexford st., he met Mic Geraghty who was looking for a drummer for his band that would to be able to play different rhythms such as Jazz Funk and Rock.
