Born
23rd April 1982, the second of five children, Stephen grew up in a very musically
orientated family. His mother and father both being accomplished musicians meant
that it wouldnt be long before Stephen took to playing music aswell.
Inspired by his fathers classical guitar playing he took to the guitar aged 5 but was too young to appreciate his fathers tutoring and went on to study several other instruments including the recorder, clarinet and saxophone at the Royal College of Music. He would later go on to teach himself the piano and various other instruments.
His musical influences transpired from listening to his mother and fathers EPs from the Beatles, Neil Young, Christy Moore and Elton John, aswell as the many classical composers that were in constant play in his house throughout his youth.
As he entered his teenage, Stephen returned to the guitar, inspired by the emerging "Britpop" and "Manchester" scenes of the mid 90s. The first single he ever bough was Whatever by Oasis, still a favourite with him to this day.
A successful sportsman and footballer (he met Mic for the first time as kids when they played for the same local GAA team), he maintains a healthy balance between his loves for music and sport.
His musical influences span an extensive range of genres, anything from The Beatles to Thin Lizzy, Bach to Mozart, Charlie Parker to Louis Armstrong, The Stone Roses to the Charlatans, Christy Moore to Shane McGowan, Oasis to Blur and even NERD to Justin Timberlake. As long as it has a good melody, beat and an ability to excite peoples emotions, its all good with him.
His favourite Beer is Miller (but enjoys a good Guinness during the winter hours)
His favourite guitarist is John Squire
Hes a huge Liverpool FC supporter
His favourite food is Thai
